Director Biography

Dr. Mohammad Farshidianfar, the coordinator of Metalaser Lab, has been an Assistant Professor at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM) since 2017. His academic journey commenced at FUM, where he earned a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, dedicating six months as a visiting student at Auburn University, USA, conducting research on the same topic as his Bachelor’s thesis—vibration and acoustic analysis of thin-walled cylindrical shells. Driven by a passion for exploration, he pursued MASc and PhD degrees in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo, Canada. His research contributions include real-time microstructure and geometry control in laser additive manufacturing and laser materials processing. Following his doctoral studies, he conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto. Dr. Farshidianfar’s shapes Metalaser Lab’s commitment to cutting-edge research in advanced manufacturing.
